Hailey Lassiter (b.1997) is an American photographer and video artist based in Houston, Texas. She began her photographic education working only in analog methods, however, has expanded her studio practice to include digital photography and video art, and plans to experiment more in multi-media installations. She is also interested in incorporating projections and sculptural aspects into her upcoming projects. Hailey is a lifelong artist who finds interest and inspiration across mediums such as film, music, and literature which serve as references and inform her creative projects. She is a current BFA student at the University of Houston and her recent work explores themes of shifting identity, mental health, and interpersonal relationships. Primarily using herself as a subject, her art is an expression of her personal experience and is often used as a tool for self-reflection. Hailey’s work is largely influenced by her fascination with surrealism and magical realism as methods to visualize subconscious or emotional states and explore the gap between perception and reality. Her work is expected to exhibit in Houston spring of 2023 (location TBD).
